Primary Night In Texas 2008
Obama may ultimately pull it out, but, it looks like the fever is beginning to lift. The Obama mania swept strong across the nation, and it may be too late, but at least the calls for Hillary to drop out will subside. Cautiously I am beginning to let myself feel a glimmer of hope again.
I couldn't be much closer. Wow. What a wild race. Still, as Obama knows better than anyone, it's all about momentum and tonight you can feel the momentum shifting, big time.
Thank God! Praise the lord. Even though it looks like neither of them can possibly wrap up enough points to win it outright, even though it looks increasingly like it will actually have to go to a floor fight at the convention, tonight at least I back to feeling fairly confident that Hillary will find a way to pull it out in the end. She is after all the much much better candidate. She has more experience and she knows how to fight and there is no doubt that she will do just that, fight every inch of the way.
It will be interesting to see how the media storm reacts to all this? Will they swing back as wildly as they swung into crazy land? At last Hillary has opened up an attack on Obama. For a while there he was immune from anything in the least bit unflattering. To even dare speak of him in anything but referential terms was considered automatic racism. Now that he has enjoyed his honeymoon of sparkling newness the press may begin to take a second look at him. Already he is starting to take missteps, rookie mistakes. He certainly is a fast learner. He has proved himself light on his feet more than once. But when it comes to carefully methodically moving the chess pieces, let's see who has recklessly overreached and left themselves vulnerable down the stretch and who had piled up the sound solid moves. Hillary can withstand any incoming fire. She has survived the most relentless withering assault for so long that it only becomes increasingly more difficult to find something new to throw at her.
Obama, wonder boy, the magic mesmorizer, just may get torn to shreds in the real world down and dirty street brawl level world that the Clinton's have to live in every day. Now look for Clinton to unleash the full measure of a big boy, in it for all the marbles full scale rain of lead from artillery emplacements dug deep into the rocks.
The trial of the guy who bought the vacant acreage enclosed in the fence around Obama's multi million dollar uptown Chicago mansion starts tomorrow. How exactly does someone on public servant's payroll suddenly find himself in such a nice house? Then there's his flat footed denial of a statement issued by the government of Canada consulate. He could have acknowledged that a renegade aid spoke without his authority and been done with it. They clumsy lie cost him "style points" as he put in while dancing circles around Clinton in the last debate, at the very least.
All Clinton has to do is somehow express that not being in the Senate and actually having to cast a vote is something different that standing outside and criticizing and second guessing. Obama's entire campaign is built around the singularity that he didn't vote against the war. He wasn't in the Senate. He had no opportunity to vote against the war. Oh it drives me crazy that more has not be made about this.
